Dr. Tony Gamboa has a unique passion for medicine, for serving people and helping build their wellness journeys, and brings sound business and strategic experience.

Dr. Antonio “Tony” Gamboa was born and raised in El Paso, TX. He was fortunate to grow up in a multicultural environment where his natural curiosity for science, the human condition and healthcare access led him towards a career in medicine.

After high school, he attended the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP) and received his bachelor’s degree in microbiology and chemistry in 1997. He attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and received his doctorate in 2001. He went on to train in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Maricopa County training program in Phoenix, AZ. He completed his dual residency in 2005 and followed with board certifications in both fields.

The initial part of his career led him to practice as a Hospitalist exclusively for 5 years, prior to founding Elite patient Care in 2010. He and his cofounder independently grew the practice to a multistate organization until 2019 and 2021 when they had sequential exits to both PE and VC respectively. During this time, he also successfully completed the EMBA program at the UT McComb’s business school, graduating in 2015. The organization, recently rebranded Curana, is now the largest, independent Senior Housing focused primary care practice in the US.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gamboa has been driven by a deep desire to improve access to and quality of healthcare. He has maintained natural inclination to question the status quo in the conventional practice of medicine and continues to explore how his life experience and professional journey can help impact the recognizable gaps in the healthcare system. Along the way, he would like to assist other people that like himself, continue the struggle of finding a clear path to their wellness journey.
